National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN) is national umbrella organization of persons with disabilities (400 OPDs) around the country. It has been consistently working for promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities since 1993 in Nepal. NFDN is looking for a highly experienced and qualified person for various positions as below:
- Project Coordinator-1:Action for Inclusion (DPOD and FFO)
- Project Coordinator-1: Disability Data Analysis and Disability inclusion survey- UNDP
- Advocacy Officer-1: Disability Data Analysis and Disability inclusion survey-UNDP
- Local focal person-1: Mithila: Disability Inclusive Development in Local Governance Project (The Asia Foundation)

- Project Coordinator- Action for Inclusion Project, federal level
Location : NFDN, Federal Office, Ratopul
Line Manager : Administrative Manager
Job purpose: The Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible to oversee the overall project cycle management including policy review/implementation, capacity building of member organization (OPDs), advocacy, awareness rising, networking and coordination to ensure and promote the rights of persons with disabilities. The PC provides technical support for program delivery to all Province Managers and related staffs including project budget management, communications, reporting and M&E through the implementation of “Action for inclusion” project. The PC will assist for project development and ensure that NFDN program activities are in consistent with NFDN principles and approaches and quality standards, draw on good practices and lessons learned.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the project activities through effective planning, monitoring and budget management with high quality in line with the objectives of the NFDN strategy and road map.
- Develop and design desired modality and process for the implementation of the activities and ensure that project progress in accordance with agreement, activities are completed within time and on budget.
- Ensure the project is implemented in federal and province level in ways responsive to the persons with disabilities in line with NFDN principles, values and strategic plan and following NFDN/partners compliance procedures.
- Monitor the activities of provincial offices and provide technical support, essential guidance, suggestions and directions to run provincial/district/municipality level activities.
- Ensure project team, board members and other stakeholders have a clear understanding of project goals, and inspire, support and motivate them to achieve envisioned goals.
- Ensure that technical quality and standards are considered during the project implementation and collect technical information and analyse associated opportunities and risks.
- Identify the training needs and facilitate training for capacity building of the program team, OPDs and other stakeholders in coordination with the Administrative Manager.
- Arrange all meetings of Project Steering Committee and various structures of the project as per the project implementation plan and prepare minutes and necessary documentation.
- Inspire and support OPDs, all types persons with disabilities to work towards promoting to ensure the human rights according to CRPD, national and international laws.
- Provide information to Admin Manager about project and support for short-term planning, implementation of activities, monitoring/reviewing of activities and reporting as required.
- Develop various tools and formats to collect the project data from national level and province/districts/municipalities/OPDs Develop reporting format for regular reporting to the authorities of NFDN.
- Support to make advocacy strategy to the board of NFDN to influence the related ministries at federal and province level to bring a comprehensive policies and program on disability inclusion.
- Initiate and support for the development of innovative project/programme.
- Support to Admin manager to develop new project proposal, explore proposal to the potential donor.
- Develop concept paper (one pager) of all the activities based on the approved plan before activity implementation.
- Support the board members for the project related activities in advocacy campaign, awareness raising, capacity building and networking and collaboration.
- Coordinate with various OPDs in the project targeted province and municipalities for their effective engagement in the advocacy, lobby, access to justice and accessibility.
- Ensure timely planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting including quality assurance of project work.
- Contribute to achievement of project monthly and quarterly operations and quality KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) of the project.
- Conduct internal quarterly review of program, operational, finance to collect lesson learnt, good practice and provide feedbacks for improvement if any.
- Prepare different periodic narrative reports needed for the organization and partners as guided by the project requirement.
- Prepare case studies, ensure that all results, achievements and outputs are properly documented.
- Ensure such reports have captured data , progress, results, achievements, challenges , case study and lesson learns etc.
- Document project related information and other relevant national and international legal frameworks, other useful information in accessible format, compile them and provide them to member organizations through different means of communication (email, phone, website, social media, publication, sharing meetings, orientations etc.)
- Facilitate capacity building of OPDs, persons with disabilities, project team through training, coaching, mentoring and sharing information
- Coordinate with federal level government stakeholders, internal and external stakeholders, right holders, OPDs and to engage them in the project activities to implement the project activities smoothly.
- Explore networking and collaboration possibilities within the province and federal level related to the project.
- Liaise with International Office, I/NGO, project partners, consultants, advisors, NFDN board and Province manager connected to the project in coordination with the Line
Qualification, experiences and skills requirements:
- At least Bachelor’s degree (master degree preferred) in social work, development studies, education, management, law or related field (disability study is preferred).
- Minimum of five years’ experience for Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience for Master degree in I/NGO environment, including experience coordinating and implementing programs.
- Experience in social sector with a proven experience of working with persons with disabilities/OPD. (Experience on disability inclusion related project or advocacy is preferred).
- Good knowledge and understanding of UNCRPD and national law related to disability.
- Good understanding of disability context / concerns and rights
- Good experience in disability inclusion and accessibility with leadership quality to coordinate and influence the governments bodies.
- Good experience of working with different impairment groups/OPDs at province & municipal level.
- Strong communication, documentation, coordination and team-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Nepali and English
- Good computer skill in operating basic computer programs such as MS office packs with email and internet handling
- Skillful in searching information in internet, operating social media, making news, activity, and periodic reports when needed.
- Project Coordinator-1 Disability Data Analysis and Disability inclusion survey
Working Station: Federal office of NFDN at Ratopul, with Frequent visit
Job purpose: The Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible implement “Disability Data Analysis and Disability inclusion survey” UNDP supported project activities with the guidance from Administrative Manager to ensure project delivery as planned and get its objectives, effective, efficient and cost-effective. The PC will develop plan, data analysis, support develop questionnaire, coordination with NSO and government authorities, OPDs, UNDP, organize workshop/training, monitoring, reporting, documentation and draw on good practices and lessons learned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall day-to-day management of the project activities in partnership with UNDP ensure an effective, efficient and cost-sensitive management which includes planning, implementation of activities, monitoring/reviewing of activities, reporting and coordination.
- Facilitate for project effective monitoring and evaluation framework and provide technical assistance, monitoring and follow-up.
- Ensure that project progress in accordance with agreement of partners, activities are completed within time and on budget.
- Prepare Project implementation plan and ensure the effective Implement the project activities.
- Support to coordinate with National Statistical office, collect disability disaggregate data, analysis and develop report.
- Support to develop questionnaire for disability survey including field test.
- Support for advocacy based on evidence for disability rights based on CRPD and national law and policies.
- Conduct necessary data analysis, training, workshop, and orientations session as per the requirement of the project.
- Develop capacities of the provincial units, OPDs, monitor their work, and mobilize them for different activities of the project targeted to the province level.
- Collect data and information related to the implementation, progress, output, outcomes, challenges, and problems of the project, document it, and produce different reports as per the need.
- Make articles, case studies, and reports of the progress of the activities to publish in the website of NFDN.
- Produce periodic project reports in the given format and submit to the Partners, NFDN’s relevant agencies and government agencies.
- Represent as the key representative of the project in the different project-related meetings with various stakeholders.
- Coordinate with partners, different units of NFDN, government agencies, Disabled Peoples Organizations to ensure their involvement and participation in the project.
- Monitor the project activities, guide the project staff as per the observation and ensure that the project is implemented in line with the set objectives and expected outcomes.
- Establish smooth coordination and linkage among NSO, NFDN board, Ministries and partner organizations.
- Support Admin manager for proposal development and presentation.
- Ensure that all financial transactions, inventory and office administration is carried out in a controlled and transparent manner without any fraudulences.
- Support NFDN working committee and Admin Manager as per requirement.
- Support accountant to ensure the proper financial transaction, budgeting and documentation.
- Perform admin and logistics task at province as per need of program.
- Carry out other tasks as requested by Administrative Manager and General Secretary.
Qualification, experiences and skills requirements:
- At least Bachelor’s degree (Preferred master degree) in social work, statistics, development studies, education, management or related field (disability study is preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience of coordinating and implementing projects.
- Good knowledge and skills on UNCRPD implementation status monitoring.
- Having experience of working with OPDs, NGOs, Ministries, municipalities and local communities.
- Experience in disability inclusive development
- Strong communication, documentation, coordination and team-building skills.
- Good written and verbal communication in Nepali and English

- Advocacy Officer-1 (Federal)
Name of Project: “Disability Data Analysis and Disability inclusion survey- UNDP
Working Station: Federal office of NFDN at Ratopul, with Frequent visit
Job Purpose: The Advocacy Officer (AO) is responsible to implement project activities for disaggregated data collection, analysis, organizing workshop and training advocacy for policy review/implementation, capacity building of member organization (OPDs), awareness rising, networking and coordination at federal level to ensure and promote the rights of persons with disabilities and provide technical support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Project Coordinator and Admin Manager for implementation of the project activities set under the project through effective planning, monitoring according to the objectives of the NFDN strategy or road map.
- Follow activities implementation process and ensure that project progress in accordance with agreement.
- Support for overall management of the project activities and lead advocacy.
- Support to organize meeting with partners, government and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate and carry out advocacy and lobby work as designed in the project and designated by federal office and federal board.
- Make articles, case studies, and reports of the progress of the activities to publish in the website of NFDN.
- Produce event reports in the given format and submit to the Project Coordinator.
- Coordinate with partners, different units of NFDN, government agencies, Disabled Peoples Organizations to ensure their involvement and participation in the project.
- Establish smooth coordination and linkage among NFDN and partner organizations.
- Perform admin and logistics task at province as per need of program.

Qualification, experiences and skills requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, development studies, or related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in NGO environments implementing disability inclusive program.
- Relationship building, coordination and networking skills.
- Good understanding of challenges facing by persons with disabilities in Nepal.
- Experience in managing advocacy human rights projects implementation and supporting OPDs.
- Good in disability and inclusion with leadership quality to coordinate and influence the governments bodies.
- Experience in working with persons with disabilities and knowledge on CRPD.
- Experience of working with governments bodies, ministries and other stakeholders
- Local focal person: Mithila Municipality, Madesh Province
Working Station : Mithila Municipality with frequent field visits
Job purpose: Local focal person is responsible to implement the project activities at the Mithila municipality in coordination with Province Manager and Project Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the project’s activities as focal person under the project supported by The Asia Foundation in the Municipality.
- Work as the main supporting hand of the project team and motivate people with disabilities and their families for social inclusion activities.
- Frequent visit to project implementation area and also take initiation during visit with concerned advocacy agenda related to the health and economic rights of persons with disabilities.
- Work and coordinate with local municipalities and other stakeholders for the inclusion of disability agendas in the policy, program and budget with special focus on the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
- Assist province Manager/Project Coordinator for preparation and planning for the advocacy and social inclusion activities.
- Inspire and build relationships with the partner organizations and member organizations of NFDN and other stakeholders as per need.
- Actively engage on advocacy activities for disability right and social inclusion.
- Actively participate in developing advocacy plan and raise awareness on disability and social inclusion in local level.
- Work under regular coordination with project team.
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with local DPOs and project team.
- Establish working relationship and organize meetings with concerned stakeholders.
- Monitor and support inclusion in practice.
- Support during workshops, training, orientation, advocacy meetings and interaction.
- Prepare reports of works done under the project and facilitates the effective implementation of the planned activities.
- Prepare advocacy materials, periodic plan and other written document.
Qualification, experiences and skills requirements:
- Completed Minimum 10+2 or with the ability to communicate, read, write reports, and preferably basic understanding of English and good writing skills in Nepali.
- Pro-active and self-motivated
- Basic knowledge and understanding on the issue related to person with disability and disability related policy and legal frameworks.
- Personal experience on working with disability community will be in priority
- Well connected with local Disabled People’s Organization, local governments or self-help group in the district
- Basic knowledge on the rights of people with disabilities.
- Networking and coordination skills with partners, local level stakeholders and co-workers.
- Skill and knowledge of drafting and dispatching letters.
- Good knowledge on MS Office (Word, Excel, Power point) email and internet.
- A person having working experience in disability field will be in priority.
- Good skill in organizing and user-friendly training session, interactions, meetings, orientations, workshops etc.
