On 23rd 2019, National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN) provided special educational materials to the Central Secondary School for Deaf in a formal program organized in the premises of School at Kathmandu. The program was conducted in the chair of Mr. Narayan Bhakta Shrestha (Rayan), the president of school management committee and former chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama. The chief guest of the program was Mr. Peter Budd, honorable ambassador, embassy of Australia. The educational materials were supported by NFDN under the project “Let us Got to School” running in partnership with Australian Embassy Nepal. NFDN has distributed educational materials needed to participate the deaf students in the learning process of class room. The distributed materials are pocket boards (3), magnetic boards (3) and white boards (6).
Addressing the program Mr. Mitralal Sharma, the president of NFDN said “NFDN believes that children with disabilities need special requirements to participate in educational learning process. If they get it, they can also participate equally as other children.” He also informed about disability focused School Enrollment Campaign that NFDN has been conducting in different districts in the support of Australian Embassy. Where least numbers of enrollment rate of children with disabilities under the support, Ms. Rama Dhakal, the vice president of NFDN said that this educational support materials will promote and increase quality education for children with hearing impaired children in the school.
Mr. Peter Budd, honorable ambassador and chief guest of the program said that the provided educational materials would be supportive for the everyday learning of deaf children. He recalled about the cooperation of embassy with the school on developing Sign Dictionary and its digital production. Mr. Narayan Bhakta Shrestha, the chair of the program and the president of the school management committee expressed thanked to NFDN and Australian Embassy to his closing remarks. After the formal program the ambassador also visited the school and interacted with students for some hours.
