Press Release about various initiatives of NFDN for People with Disabiliites affected by Earthquake

National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN) organized a interactive meeting with the representatives of national DPOs, INGOs, disability rights activists and key central representatives of NFDN . The discussions in the meeting was focused on the action points to be carried out to respond the earthquake affected persons with disabilities in different affected areas. The meeting concluded the following immediate action points have been concluded.

  • 1. NFDN will establish a disaster response task force and desk in central office as the secretariat to facilitate for building access of earthquake affected persons with disabilities in rescue, medical and relief service.
  • 2. NFDN will collect the data of persons with disabilities those who have lost their lives and affected by the earthquake.
  • 3. Intensify the advocacy and lobby meetings, providing memorandums and increase the support of media to increase the access of affected persons with disabilities in the all rescue and relief activities conducted by the government in coordination with other many stakeholders.
  • 4. Take initiations to provide appropriate and safe shelter for those persons with disabilities who are living in very difficult situation after the disaster.
